Eric Banzon Noora New member here. Would appreciate help on ID for this. Spotted last April 28, 2012 at a depth of only 1.8m at Batangas, Philippines. Tiny nudi - about 1.2cm. Cheers!

Blogie Robillo Hey Eric! Good to see you here! :) That's an attractive nudi there!

Eric Banzon Noora Hi Bloggie. Just found out about this group today :-)

Eric Banzon Noora Thinking this might be Chromodoris fidelis?

Blogie Robillo Doesn't look like it...

Eric Banzon Noora Found this one at sea slug forum http://www.seaslugforum.net/find/chrofide

Eric Banzon Noora Thinking it might be the same as your new spotting Blogie :-)

Blogie Robillo It's confusing me actually...

Eric Banzon Noora Blogie - The two photos in the sea slug site actually looks like ours! :-)

Eric Banzon Noora And yep I think Chromodoris fidelis is a synonym for Geniobranchus fidelis. Hope someone can confirm though :-)

Eric Banzon Noora Think now this is a Goniobranchus rubrocornutus - http://www.vibrantsea.net/chromodoris29_anilao11.html or Chromodoris rubrococornuta - http://www.nudipixel.net/species/chromodoris_rubrocornuta/location/lembeh/ whichever the correct or more proper name is. :-)

Blogie Robillo Another nudi for ID'ing... :) Depth 15m @ Hammerhead Alley, Samal Island; length abt 0.5cm; 24 June 2012.

Jim Anderson Goniobranchus fidelis

Blogie Robillo Thanks, Jim Anderson. I wonder why the Goniobranchus genus doesn't figure in nudipixel.net....

Blogie Robillo Wait... Is Goniobranchus fidelis a synonym for Chromodoris fidelis?

Jim Anderson It's the name following the publication of Johnson & Gosliner earlier this year.

Blogie Robillo I see. Thanks again, Jim.

Patrik Good Am confused about Dermatobranchus cf. primus (Nudibranch) versus Dermatobranchus primus (Nudibase). I know what cf. stands for but am still wondering if there is a deeper reason why nudibase and nudibranch don't list both or not the same.

Gary Cobb D cf primas is in our eyes not the same as D primus. In the description for D primus there are yellow longitudinal lines on the mantle. The animals we find on the Coast have the same all white body with small specks, and only sometime a yellow mantle margin and yellow oral veil

Patrik Good Thank you, Gary. Just confusing that Nudibase lists your finds as D. primus while you list all your finds as D. cf. primus. (Ash by the way, should't your Chromodoris sp1 be Chromodoris fidelis (Kelaart, 1858)?)

Ashley Missen In Nudibase If you Click on A picture It has More Info On that sighting under the the enlarged pic - Photographer note including cf. aff. and other info - Chromodoris sp. 1 is another thing altogether as different book list it Differently - some say is a form of C. fidelis some don't and relate it to other Chromodoris - so I put it under as sp. until futher clarification - Cheers Ash

Patrik Good Thank you, Ashley. Very happy with your answer. It makes sense to me now. Actually, makes it easier for me to compare all the cf., aff. of a species.

Ashley Missen Thank you Patrik Good - my thoughts exactly

Gary Cobb Ash's Chromodoris sp. 1 is not Chromodoris fidelis. Keep it as it is until someone can look at it's insides!

Shane Siers Reading order: Chromodoris fidelis, Chromodoris hintuanensis, Nembrotha lineolata, Glossodoris atromarginata, Chromodoris cf lochi, Flabellina rubrolineata, Hypselodoris infucata, Gymnodoris aurita and Ceratosoma tenue! All beauties, Louis! I'll be back in Anilao in June, can't wait.

Louis Pang so informative. Shane Siers Thanks.
