Marlon Delgado Discodoris evelinae
Praia de Búzios - RN/Brasil
2009
Vinicius Padula Marlon, my friend, "Discodoris evelinae" is a synonym of
Discodoris branneri MacFarland, 1909, which has priority.
Marlon Delgado Ok, thank you! Correcting:
Discodoris branneri :D
Erwin Koehler Dayrat, B. 2010. A Monographic Revision of Basal Discodorid Sea Slugs (Mollusca: Gastropoda: Nudibranchia: Doridina). Proceedings of the California Academy of Sciences 61, suppl I: 1-403.
labels this species ‘Montereina’ branneri (MacFarland, 1909) or
Discodorididae branneri (MacFarland, 1909)
it is not a Discodoris
Ana Karla Araújo So, which one is correct?
João Pedro Silva Dayrat's paper is available here: http://campillos.ucmerced.edu/~bdayrat/PDF%20of%20Papers/Dayrat%202010%20PCAS%20HR.pdf
Vinicius Padula Ana Karla, the correct in this case is... your opinion. In my opinion, the nomenclature of Dayrat´s paper that Erwin commented above adds even more confusion in the names of this group. You can follow him, me or any other possibility you consider more pertinent.
Ana Karla Araújo I thought it very confusing too. But I prefer to use
Discodoris branneri. =] Thanks for the explanation!
Gary Cobb It would be interesting to see the ventral side...
Gary Cobb Here is a similar species to
Discodoris branneri from the Indo Pacific Region found in the intertidal zone of Alex Headland -
Discodoris fragilis (Alder and Hancock, 1864) 95 mm
