Gary Cobb I think your animals could be Discodoris fragilis. Bill Rudman said 'Discodoris lilacina' and 'Discodoris fragilis' are found from the eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean. Were your animals found in deep water or shallow water?

Gary Cobb This group is very difficult to ID from external anatomy. Only internal anatomy or DNA can separate the species absolutely. Discodoris fragilis is also found under rocks in shallow water.

Ana Karla Araújo But, could it be D. branneri? Or is it more like D. fragilis? In your opinion.

Gary Cobb Just to be safe call it Montereina cf. branneri (MacFarland, 1909) (It appears the genus has changed). 'cf' meaning 'similar to' until a positive ID can be made.

Vinicius Padula Hi Gary, definitely a group that needs a revision (the Discodorididae in general), almost nothing also with DNA. In the case of D. branneri, it has a big spined penis, what I remember is absent in other similar species. Besides D. fragilis, there is D. lilacina, D. confusa, D. maculosa... :0
