Patrik GoodChelidonura varians, Seaway SW Wall, 40mm, 1 metres, 16/4/2012 in darkness on sandy substrate, 25 degree water. The deep clear blue contrasting to the black is just fascinating. Another Algajidae found at the Seaway. Found Chelidonura fulvipunctata on same dive.
Patrik Good Is this a temperate species? It is not on nudibranch.com.au.
Gary Cobb No it is not! We just have not found it here yet. Bum!
Patrik GoodFavorinus japonicus, Southport Seaway Nightdive, 7/4/2012, size 15mm, depth 3 metres, visibility 15 metres. Found two individuals in two different locations. They are eating nudi spawn (not sure if the ball to the left is nudi spawn). Maybe an explanation why the population of the Goniodoridella sp. 1 has declined and there are only a few individuals to be found? Chelidonura fulvipunctata is abundant at the moment, in different sizes and mating. Also, Plocamopherus ceylonicus seems quite abundant.
Gary Cobb This is great! It is amazing the colour variations of some Philinopsis species.
Vinicius Padula Anne, I would ask you exactly to post color photos of this species. Thanks for the post!
David A Mullins Interesting observations Anne. It brings to mind a similar observation I made and posted on our discussion page at http://www.nudibranch.com.au/news.html entitled: "The Variety Pack" where 4 different colour and pattern variations of another species of aglajid, Chelidonura fulvipunctata, were sighted on the one dive over a distance of just 40 metres.
