Rob Spray Wilfried Bay-Nouailhat Could you send a close-up of the large siphons please
Rob Spray I thought I had but facebook is half as good as Noah so they upload one by one... From North Norfolk, approx 5m, on chalk.
Anne Bay-Nouailhat What was the size of the colony ? Seems to be too large for L. perforatum?!
Wilfried Bay-Nouailhat The colony is too large and too different to be L. perforatum. There is one species similar to the pic, with the same size and colour, it is
Polysyncraton bilobatum, but we don't see all the caracteristics of this species on the pic. :os
David Kipling No Dawn, this is def a squirt, sorry.
David Kipling That'll make it nice and soft :)
Anne Bay-Nouailhat Unless it is L. perforatum var. giganteum ? ;o)
Rob Spray I thought the overall might be useful. Roughly 10x30cm
David Kipling OK fixation and zooid dissection on To Do list for next week. Does anyone know how to do this, by the way?!?
Wilfried Bay-Nouailhat var. giganteum s/var. buffseum
Becky Hitchin I do ... in theory!
Wilfried Bay-Nouailhat bilobatum is said to be 50 cm2
Anne Bay-Nouailhat and perforatum, 4 to 5 cm across !
Richie West is the orangey ascidian tridemnium cereum? taken at westdale reef in pembs again. doctor squirts, please furnish me with your wisdom!
Richie West I think we need an ascidians seasearch group. david kipling, what do you reckon?
Richie West Or a NE Atlantic one to share our pretties with those of our Euopean neighbours :o)
Rob Spray Hi Richie, there's already a Seasearch Tunicates (one of the first formed) and there's also a NE Atlantic Tunicates... fill your boots :-)
Wilfried Bay-Nouailhat Hi, and what about
Polysyncraton bilobatum ?! A close-up view will help. Nice
Pycnoclavella stolonialis at the bottom !
David Kipling The main active tunicates group is the NE Atlantic one. The Seasearch Tunicates group is quiet, it was more a group to help plan Bernard's recent course.
David Kipling You have good spotting skills Wilfried, noticing those little white crosses at the bottom! I was mentioning this other Pycnoclavella species to Richie just the other day. We'll have to make him look for them properly now ;)
