Alistair Merrifield Nice!
Paul Rudder Was stoked to see something different :)
Ken Thongpila Nice found Paul. I found them a couple time in Sydney outside the harbour and always with Wide angle. Love to see them when I get there :-) Nice shot BTW...
Paul Rudder Thanks Ken :) Can you email me some suggestions for improvement? And Al too?
Alistair Merrifield try a subtle vignette around the outside to make the nudi pop!
Paul Rudder Whats a vignette and how do I do it? :{
Evie Go vignette is like corner shadows...
Paul Rudder Cool - And how do I do it? Lower the strobe output? Higher apature?
Evie Go its in the editing tool, not camera adjustment...
Paul Rudder ahhhh... I'll check it out :) Thanks Evie ;)
Ken Thongpila Paul, Adjust some colours make a bit warmer. I will email you later...
Ryuta Ishikawa Ceratosoma Sinuata(van Hasselt, 1824)
Osezaki, Japan
Lindz WarrenMiamira flavicostata Baba, 1940
Ryuta Ishikawa This is "Ceratosoma magnificum (Eliot, 1910) " in a japanese picture book now. This nudibranch has many id.
Lindz Warren But C. magnificum, M. flavicostata are very different. We need to ask the experts :-)
Erwin Koehler some say they are the same species (synonyms) the SSF discussed it here:
http://www.seaslugforum.net/find/19854
João Pedro Silva Have you checked if material from these species was used in the latest revision of the Chromodorididae?
Ryuta Ishikawa It's called "Ceratosoma magnificum (Eliot, 1910)" at the book of "Nudibranchs in Japan beta edition(Dec 2012)".
This book is latest pictorial book in Japan.
João Pedro Silva But not the latest scientific publication. By April 2012 the latest revision of the family was published: http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0033479
It's not simply a revision based on morphology but a molecular (DNA) study. Ceratosoma magnificum it's now obsolete and the currently accepted name is Miamira magnifica. Updated online sources already reflect this, you can check for yourself: http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=560048
João Pedro Silva I know it takes a lot of effort to keep updated but it's a pity the "Nudibranchs in Japan" book didn't use the latest knowledge available. I co-authored a book on the "Sea Slugs of the Algarve" released in December 2012 and we changed all the Chromodorididae to reflect it (and the manuscript was delivered by the end of August).
