Hermissenda crassicornis

(Eschscholtz, 1831)

Joel Warburton Can anyone ID this? I think its a Hermissenda Crassicornis, but all the pictures I've seen of those have white ends on the fronds on the back. Anyone know if this is correct? I took it off the Californian coast in August this year.

Jeff Rosenfeld Your ID is correct. The species can be rather varaible, which is especially notable the farther up the coast you go.

Joel Warburton Thanks Jeff!
