Cameron Easton Ron, just wondering: D. kuteri has blue facial circles rather than reticulations and orange lips - does D. dactylopus? Can't see properly in my ID guides! Philippines may be too far north for D. kuteri though?
Ron Silver Cameron, see attached photo of D. dactylopus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dactylopus_dactylopus_by_Vincent_C_Chen.jpg
Cameron Easton Nice one. I'd certainly say they're the same! This is a better photo than the books. Thanks Ron.
Ron Silver A caveat......I really don't know the range of D. Kuiteri, so you could be right. I recall the orange lips but Rudy's naming is early 1990s which would have been after my initial encounters with D. dactylopus. It was named in the mid 1830s. Now that I've begun to look at a few more keys, I seem to be finding photos that could be mis-identified. :-(
Cameron Easton Allen et al give it as the Bali-Flores-Sulawesi triangle. However, I guess that, as ever, ranges will expand with better information. Don't ya just love animal ecology!!
