Ron Silver The problem(s) with common names are truly endless........this moray eel is known as the Peppered Moray (as well as the Geometric Moray), but its scientific name is Gymnothorax griseus. Here's a picture of G. pictus which is also known as the Peppered Moray (as well as the Painted Moray): http://australianmuseum.net.au/Peppered-Moray-Gymnothorax-pictus-Ahl-1789/

Nick More is this a peepered moray eel Ron Silver?
Ron Silver Trouble with common names - some likely know this as the Peppered Moray (other species of morays also have that common name) and others know this as the Geometric Moray, but, either way, this is Gymnothorax griseus.
Nick More thanks , are they parasites on his chin?
Ron Silver Yes, appear to be the egg cases of a parasitic copepod.
Nick More poor bugger
Ron Silver Fortunately, they don't seem to do much harm or else they would not be successful.
