David Salmanowitz Blue ribbon eel (Rhinomuraena quaesita). ISO 200, f/29, 1/125th sec, 105mm, D700/Nauticam housing, 2 Inon Z-240's.
Evie Go love this David Salmanowitz!
David Salmanowitz Thanks Evie and Howard.
Ken Thongpila Nice one David Salmanowitz :-) Always love this ribbon Eel...
David Salmanowitz Thanks Ken. This guy was as approachable as any ribbon eel I have come across. Always amazes me how some animals are approachable in one area and not in another area. Example--some years ago was diving in Kosrae and Pohnpei, flame angels were very cooperative. In the Solomon Islands all one has to do is lift their camera and usually they swim off. :-(
Ron Silver Ribbon Eel, Rhinomuraena quaesita (male phase)
Dennis Corpuz Nice shot! (y) :)
Nick Khoo Hi Ron Silver, may i ask why you put in (male phase)? Do eels change sex? Sorry I don't know much about eels.

Ron Silver This particular eel has three distinct phases. They are all born as males and are colored black with a gold/yellow dorsal fin. As they mature, they change color to what is shown in your photo. Then, the mature male can change sex and color to become the all yellow female.
