Hypselodoris maridadilus

Rudman, 1977

Kristin Anderson Hypselodoris maridadilus mating Navy Pier, Exmouth Gulf, Ningaloo Reef

Steve Wright Lots of Nudi's naughtiness going on over there Kristin! lol ...Navy Pier one of my fav dive sites:)

Blogie Robillo The rhinophores have white tips, don't they? In that case, I think these are H. whitei and not H. maridadilus.

Kristin Anderson You could be right!

Gary Cobb Kristin your ID is correct.

Kristin Anderson thanks, Gary!

Gary Cobb Glad to be of service!

Blogie Robillo I see. So the white tips don't mean anything?

Gary Cobb No they don't because the stalk of rhinophores is white and the lamellae or plate like structures of the rhinophores are coloured. Many species of Dorids have this anatomy.

Gary Cobb The white tip is the top of the stalk

Ajiex Dharma Hypselodoris???

Gary Cobb Where was this found?? What is its size?? It could be Hypselodoris maridadilus Rudman, 1977

Ajiex Dharma I found in seraya secret Tulamben Bali, the size is quite big i don't know exactly. ....have you been diving in tulamben area??

Gary Cobb No I have not dived there yet. Sounds good!

Ajiex Dharma You should try to dive there...!! :)

Jim Anderson ..or could it be Hypselodoris whitei (Adams & Reeve, 1850)

Gary Cobb Yes it could be Jim but the dorsal stripes are uninterrupted. H. white seems to be broken.

Jim Anderson are the white tips to the rhinofores typical of whitei - also according to Rudman whitei is west pacific and maridilus west indian ocean
