Dendrilla rosea

Lendenfeld, 1883

Rudolf Svensen Anybody knows this brown sponge? Image captured in a fjord South in Norway.

Erling Svensen This is quite deep. From 50 meters or so? I have seen this one vut do not know the name.

Rudolf Svensen I saw several on the dive we had together in Fedafjorden. Last winter was it? On aprox 20-30 meters in the wall a bit left from where we entered the water and around the corner. I do not bother with sponges when I'm deeper than 50 meters you know ;-)

Erling Svensen Sponges are cool, s do not tell Bernard..... ;-)

Erling Svensen Do uyou know the name of the ascidians behind the sponge? if you do, please tell me.

Erling Svensen ..... the colony to the right......

Richard Yorke This looks very like Dendrilla rosea that I have seen at Poor Knights in New Zealand http://richardy.co.uk/Poor_Knights/content/101127_025646_E_520_large.html A close up can be also seen at http://depth.photoshelter.com/image/I0000cB4jhnCbm4M

David Kipling The colonial ascidian isn't familiar from the UK, another polyclinid by the look of it. I think you get species quite different where you are Erling.
