Eualus cranchii
(Leach, 1817 [in Leach, 1815-1875])
Paula Lightfoot Can anyone identify this colourful crustacean, which was about 1.5cm long and found in a rockpool in Yorkshire? I was thinking maybe Eualus cranchii (formerly Thoralus)
Christian Skauge How about a Eualus pusiolus?
Andy Horton This is newsworthy as well. I have never received an intertidal report of this prawn-like.

João Pedro Silva Every once in a while I shoot some shrimps and show them to Ricardo Jorge Guerra Calado, so maybe he can help. Eualus sp. are very difficult, if not impossible, to identify through photos alone.
Chris Barrett Sue Hull and I caught one of these early in the year and she took it back to ID. Not sure what became of it though
Paula Lightfoot Thanks - I did suspect it might not be possible to ID to species level without a specimen, still if the genus can be confirmed that would be interesting. I'll ask Sue about the other specimen.
Chris Barrett I think you're right - if I remember, I think we were both lacking a camera at the time! Ours was found on the sheltered side of Filey Brigg
