Alvaro Borba FamÃlia Discodorididae
Platydoris angustipes (Mörch, 1863)
Sandstone reef in Francês beach - Alagoas - Northeast Brazil
~100 mm
Vinicius Padula It seems to be Geitodoris pusae (Marcus, 1955).
Alvaro Borba Because of the shape of the gills?
Vinicius Padula Yes and the mantle/color. But, specimen of 10cm?
Alvaro Borba Or more...
Vinicius Padula So, probably you are right ;)
Alvaro Borba I had been in doubt because of the shape of the gills
Vinicius Padula The shape of the gill is similar, but G. pusae has posterior half gill darker. Differences are more on the mantle (shape and color), G. pusae has more uniform orange color than P. angustipes, which in general tend to be darker orange/red.

Vinicius Padula By these photos, is a strange pattern for P. angustipes. I would suggest Geitodoris pusae (Marcus, 1955), but not usual to have 10cm specimens of this species. Lets see the new photos.
Alvaro Borba Hey Vinicius Padula sorry, but I overestimated the length of the specimens.
A specimen is 20 mm and the other is 30 mm.
Alvaro Borba Really should be Geitodoris pusea (Er. Marcus, 1955) but I still have questions... Below a picture with details rinophore
Alvaro Borba Below a picture with gill details. G. pusea has Dorsum with caryophillidia? Or just complex network?
Alvaro Borba Below, dorsal view of the largest specimen (30mm)
Alvaro Borba And below, details of the mantle and foot (massive and very strong, allowing the specimen is set right in the substrate).
Vinicius Padula Alvaro, here you can see the differences on the mantle between Geitodoris (left) and Taringa (right).

Alvaro Borba Yes! Are very different. And branchial leaves too.
