Andy Horton Has the Red Blenny, Parablennius ruber, been found off the Cornish and Plymouth coasts? Marlin site was inaccessible when I tried.
Alex Tattersall We saw a variegated blenny of Plymouth this week but no red blenny
Andy Horton http://www.fishbase.org/summary/Parablennius-ruber.html
Dave McBride I am sure Tim Allsop have photographed Red Blennies here on Scillies.
Andy Horton Id is not confirmed http://data.nbn.org.uk/gridMap/gridMap.jsp?allDs=1&srchSpKey=NHMSYS0020461272 Variegated Blenny: I would need a scientific name please?
Andy Horton This page needs updating: http://www.glaucus.org.uk/blennies.htm If anybody has any pictures they want including? Reports and dates.
Andy Horton Butterfly Blenny, Blennius ocellaris: the only time I have seen one of these was in the old MBA Aquarium. Does this aquarium still exists as a research facility?
David Kipling I have pics of red blennies from the IoS, and Dave McBride is right that Tim has photos of them as well. Bright red colour so hard to miss when you shine a light on them ... I think Sarah found on and squealed very loudly into her reg at me. Dratted thing was hiding at the back of a crack to nigh-on impossible to get the flash illumination to reach it. Never seen on on mainland though.
Andy Horton There have been Scottish records as well of P. ruber, not on the NBN Gateway grid. http://www.oceaneyephoto.com/photo_5350981.html
Andy Horton Is this the Variegated? http://www.fishbase.org/photos/PicturesSummary.php?ID=16962&what=species
Andy Horton I will need some more Red Blenny pictures to look at the head tentacles.
Terry Griffiths Andy look on my Eastern kings file in my photographs seen a few over the last couple of years. Parablennius pilicornis
Andy Horton I can't find the Eastern Kings album ?
Terry Griffiths It's there Andy just looked at the pictures.
