Crambione mastigophora

Maas, 1903

Tine Kinn Kvamme There are two black and white fish swimming with this jellyfish. They might be damsels? I hope someone can help with the ID, please? Photo is from Koh Tao, Thailand. Crambione mastigophora jellyfish

Tine Kinn Kvamme It is the only photo I got, by the way..

Donna Lavoie Look like juvi grey angel fish to me.http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://cdn2.arkive.org/media/CE/CE9B7342-A817-4BD5-92B9-B10C21771530/Presentation.Large/Juvenile-gray-angelfish-over-giant-star-coral.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.arkive.org/gray-angelfish/pomacanthus-arcuatus/image-G92253.html&h=433&w=650&sz=48&tbnid=cKBe4Cb4evpzQM:&tbnh=88&tbnw=132&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpicture%2Bof%2Bjuvenile%2Batlantic%2Bangelfish%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=picture+of+juvenile+atlantic+angelfish&usg=__V0q_Mv7o40K8jdFGSaynIvb6Epc=&docid=Mj1sU_ti3ux64M&sa=X&ei=1A-pUciOF8jM0wHUvYCoBQ&ved=0CD8Q9QEwBQ&dur=3263

Tine Kinn Kvamme They have forked tail fin with dots...

Donna Lavoie Click on the Google link...

Tine Kinn Kvamme The angelfish has 3 yellow lines, the ones in my photo has 5 black lines. All help is good help :)

Cameron Easton Tine Kinn Kvamme They look to me like juvenile batfish, though cant pinpoint the species. So Platax sp. There's a web image of something very similar sheltering in a jellyfish ..... (if the link works!) http://www.google.com/search?um=1&hl=en&biw=1024&bih=672&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=uCGpUd-tGaLS0QW58YH4DQ&q=juvenile+batfish+jellyfish+indo+pacific&oq=juvenile+batfish+jellyfish+indo+pacific&gs_l=img.3...41706.52652.0.53364.19.19.0.0.0.0.98.1319.19.19.0...0.0...1c.1.15.img.2zTDt4ViEnI#biv=i%7C6%3Bd%7CN59Fh9CJESyyvM%3A

Tine Kinn Kvamme Thank you Cameron Easton, I think you are right on the juvenile batfish. Two (Y) (Y) up to you!

Cameron Easton This was a slightly tough one! I was almost sure about the batfish shape, but was getting a bit frustrated when I stumbled on the image. Sometimes you get lucky!!

Tine Kinn Kvamme I would call you a good detective on this one. I've seen photos of batfish, but found nothing similar :-) I'm very happy for your help :-)

Cameron Easton :-)

Tine Kinn Kvamme From Koh Tao, Thailand. Tozeuma tomentosum shrimp hiking on a Crambione mastigophora Jellyfish. I have only seen this type of shrimp once and would like to hear if anyone here knows more about it. Canon G12 in Canon WP-DC34 housing, f4, 1/400s, flash fired.

Richard Brooks good evidence!

Tine Kinn Kvamme I have yet to find any more information about this shrimp. I have not found more than one photo so far. (google) I know it is a relative of the Sawblade shrimp.

Richard Brooks very cool

Richard Brooks Commensal stuff is the bomb!

Tine Kinn Kvamme Ha ha Richard Brooks. I definitely find this one intriguing :)

FANTASIOSA!!!

Richard Brooks Imagine the odds of a larvae finding this jelly and developing in sanctuary ?

Tine Kinn Kvamme Exactly. Quite amazing. The funny thing about this is I dived with a Whale shark the whole dive and got this little treasure at my safety stop:-)

Richard Brooks there you go.
