Acanthocepola krusensternii

(Temminck & Schlegel, 1845)

Tine Kinn Kvamme I´ve only seen this strange fish once. It was a fun meeting. Redspotted bandfish 0;Acanthocepola krusensternii) Koh Tao, Thailand.

Gerardo Aizpuru Great find :)

Alan Duncan Wow..!! I've NEVER seen that around here. Can you remember what site it was at?

Tine Kinn Kvamme Alan. Southwest pinnacles :) I filmed a short clip of it as well. In the beguinning it swam backwards and then right into my camera. Have a look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY_tt445ol4

Alan Duncan That's really amazing Tine Kinn Kvamme. I thought i'd seen just about every fish species in this area, but i've never even seen a photo of this until today... Thanks for sharing it :-)

Tine Kinn Kvamme My pleasure Alan. Actually I think Thais are familiar with this fish.

Alan Duncan Yeah, they know most of the things they eat! Was this down on the sand at SW Pinnacles or shallower? I can see divers near the surface so it doesn't look very deep.

Tine Kinn Kvamme I was probably way out of its territory. I suspect the wound on the side is part of that reason. If you have seen most species in this area, I might have a treat for you. I´ll post a photo of it in a minute. I´ve only seen that one once while diving as well.

Alan Duncan Yeah, i thought that looked like a wound on its side. Looking forward to the treat...

Tine Kinn Kvamme Posted it already :)
