Bulbonaricus davaoensis

(Herald, 1953)

Kati Burg I found this tiny red pipefish in a Galaxea coral. Is it Bulbonaricus davaoensis? Size 4 to 5 cm, depth 18 meters, Ginablan, Romblon Island, Philippines.

Kati Burg Maybe it was even smaller.

Mike Bartick wow, nice find!

Lenny Kim Looks Good! I hope to see it too.

Arne Kuilman Yes it is! (at least looks similar to the other photos on internet). Never even heard of this animal before! These animals delight me so much (the ones me and other people have hardly ever heard of…)

Carl-Johan Nilsson This is a first for me too. Another pipefish one needs to find and another reason to go to Romblon!

Blogie Robillo Oh so that's what it's called! It's named after my hometown eh? :)

Carl-Johan Nilsson We better find one in Davao soon!

Kati Burg Thanks everybody. I was so excited when I found it. @ 레니김 I know the place. I will find it for you again. I know you will take better photos of it :-)

Blogie Robillo Carl-Johan - I see them from time to time. And yeah, I've seen them on Galaxea coral too. When will you be in Davao?

Carl-Johan Nilsson Dec 22, super exited to meet you and all the critters. Carabao hasn't answered emails, i'll just go there and nag 'em. Exept from Davao, Leyte, Panglao and Anilao might find some time for Romblon and Puerto Galera too.
