Synoicum pulmonaria

(Ellis & Solander, 1786)

Erling Svensen Here are two more pictures....

Bernard Picton Aplidium svenseni??

Erling Svensen Please give this one that name - I would send you, Bernard, the best whiskey bottle that I ever have bought.....

Wilfried Bay-Nouailhat In the tallest colony, zooids make well defined systems and that does not fit with the description of A. proliferum I have

Erling Svensen What about the Synoicum pulmonaria?

Bernard Picton We need to dissect one. It is important to make it relax completely, then fix in formalin or Bouin's fluid. I can send some chemicals and instructions. But there are many which are uncertain so it really needs a project.

Erling Svensen A lot to do, Bernard....... I can collect if you want?

David Kipling I think it would be safer to take the chemicals over ourselves and provide on-site training ;) Purely from a safety perspective, of course ...

Erling Svensen You are much welcome......

Erling Svensen The Goniodoris nodosa have just exploded in Egersund harbour the last 2 weeks. I see a lot of them on the Synoicum pulmonaria. Do anybody of you know if this ascidien is on the diet? I know they eat sea mats and other ascidiens, but this one? I planned diving today, but today there is a snowstorm in South Western Norway, so my car do not want to go anywhere.....

David Kipling Can you tell if they are actually eating the tunicate from your pictures (as opposed to them eating some bryozoan around them)?
